Hello, everyone!

I am back with another post on my blog. This time it's about a pretty interesting multicart for Nintendo Famicom. If you don't know, what multicart is, it's basically a cartridge that contains more than one game on it. Most of the produced that you'll be able to find are all bootleg, pirate, unauthorised cartridges that were made without any license from Nintendo or other official game developers and publishers.
Famicom bootleg cartridges started being produced from the end of 1980s I think, and are still being produced to nowadays, believe it or not. Since the patents on Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Famicom have expired in 2003, it's now legal to make a clone system or bootleg cartridges for that console.

Of course, Eastern Europe and some Asian countries had to rely on a bootleg hardware, because NES or Famicom weren't officially released in that countries back in 1980s-1990s. Since the internet came in, we are able to buy an official NES/Famicom products through import shopping with the help of ebay.com, amazon.com, etc..

But even today, in these countries, you might be able to find unofficial Chinese bootleg stuff, and this is the multicart for Famicom that grabbed my attention, so I decided to buy it and write about it to you.

That label must be one of the best and weirdest thing about the cartridge.
We are talking about 400 in 1 Real Game multicart. As you can see right from the beginning, the label has nothing to do with the games included on the cartridge. Apparently made by Coolboy company, that also made 150 in 1 Real Game, 245 in 1 Real Game multicarts that have a lot of games on them.
WARNING: Some broken English and typos are to be noticed!

Here's the back of the cartridge. In case you can't see it perfectly, I will write below what's written here.

* Avoid exposing cartr dge to extreme temperature
* Be careful not to immerse cartridge in water.
* For protection, when cartridge is noe in use, place cartidge inside protective plastic case.

Yes, I even included all the typos here that are written in the cartridge in case you are wondering.
There is nothing much to say about the cartridge, other than it looks a little bit smaller than any other Famicom official or bootleg cartridge I've ever had in my collection.

Here's how it looks like if I compare it to one of my old multicarts.
Two bootleg carts together... Different size...
As you can see by the height, it's much smaller than my 1994 Super HIK 3-in-1 for example, but by width they are pretty much the same, otherwise 400in1 wouldn't fit into any of my consoles.

So, what makes this multicart very cool in comparison to the earlier multicarts produced by Coolboy(?), like 150-in-1 Real Game, and 245-in-1 Real Game, is that it works fine on original Famicom.
Yes, I have original Famicom from 1983, but mine is AV modded, as well as some Dendy Famiclones.
Quite unfortunate thing is that both of the earlier multicarts don't work on original hardware, or very early non-NOAC Famiclones by default. If you only have NES with 60-to-72 pin adapter or original Famicom hardware and bought either one of those multicarts, you'll end up with this:
What could be worse than buying a cartridge, putting it into the console, and get this?
Yes, everything will be garbaged like this. But if you play it on NOAC or glob-topped Famiclone, you will get this instead:
It works! :D But NOAC Famiclones aren't the best solution to play all the Famicom carts... :(
I am not really sure why it works like that, but there's a way to fix this, and make it to work on any kind of hardware you want. Thanks to MWK from Famicom World forums, he posted a way to make it possible to run. Here's the link to that topic: (click here)

With 400in1 in my case, I didn't have to modify it at all. I straightly bought it from one of the Russian forums and tried in on my Famicom, and I was surprised to see that it actually works. Here's some proof for you:

So, speaking of the games that were included on this multicart, it's essentially 245in1 Real Game, except with more games added to it, and fewer repeats, which is pretty interesting.
Here there are some screenshots of the main menu:
As you can see, the list of games promises us a lot of games to be included on a cartridge, and if you have played 245in1 Real Game cartridge or dumped ROM before, you might already recognise some of the games from 1 to 245. But it doesn't hold it's promise 100%, because there are still some repeats, but under different names. But don't worry about it, I have spent about 2 hours looking through all the games to check out if there are any repeats or original games, and here I provide you with the list of all the games and the screenshots of title screens of each game.

EDIT (01.03.2014): Due to the lack of time and good PC hardware to organise everything well and put the title screen screenshots into one picture, I provide you with the download link to .zip file that contains all the screenshots of the title screens for each included game. You can download it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pasjzfu6ro59sx9/400in1gametitle.zip

So, here you can see all the title screens for each included game. Some of the title screens have been changed for some reason, but the main gameplay functionality is remained the same.
Finally, what I would like to say about this multicart? Is it worth picking up?
Well, there are some cons, but they are very minimal, but there some pros as well, so here it's the list of all pros and cons I had with this cartridge

Pros:
- Includes a lot of games, unlike these "over-nine-thousand"-in-1 multicarts
- Most of the included are all recognisable NES/Famicom titles
- Includes some rare games, like Power Blade 2, Bubble Bobble 2, TMNT Tournament Fighters, etc..
- Includes some Famicom exclusives you might have ever played before
- Includes some interesting bootleg or homebrew games, like Giabbit, Shifter, Super X-Wing 97, Fishwar, etc..
- Very small and compact cartridge, doesn't take a lot of place
- Works on any preferred NES/Famicom hardware (?)
- Simple menu navigation (you use D-pad to control the menu)
- The plastic case feels cheap, but not too bad
- Fits into the console perfectly fine

Cons:
- No consistency in what version of the game to be included (European version of SMB, Jackie Chan, Banana Prince, etc..)
- There are still some repeats includes, like one game under different titles or two different regional versions, like US version and JPN one
- 1/4 of the multicart is the NiceCode DreamGear awful and boring piece of rubbish
- It takes some time to get to the particular game in the menu
- Very rarely the cartridge refuses to play the game properly (not a major problem, can be fixed by taking out and putting in the cartridge back again)

So, in conclusion, I'd say that this cartridge is worth picking up if you can find for sale anywhere, but take to the account these cons I've listed above. There are more pros than cons, and like all the multicarts, this one is a mixed bag, speaking of what games will be included and if it would work perfectly fine.
Thank you for reading this very long post!
See you next time! Feel free to ask me questions in the comment section below!

Videogame Collection 1: Famicom Cartridges 1 (26.12.2013)

Here's my second post in the blog, and it's about my Famicom cartridge collection. It includes official cartridges, bootlegs and multicarts.

The photo is pretty old, it was made after the Christmas 2013, but there will be a new photo of my collection soon (and there hasn't been much of the updates to my collection, other than 12 new cartridges which will be posted in a next post).

Yes, as you can see there are 114 Famicom cartridges in total, not counting PCBs in the box near my Famicom, and Dendy console, as well as 4 NES cartridges, which I picked up just for collection.

I am more into Famicom cartridges, either to bootleg carts or official carts, because each of these types of Famicom cartridges are very interesting. For example, on a booleg cartridge, you can find some game, that's quite rare to find on official NES/Famicom cartridge, like Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers 2, Duck Tales 2, or Flintstones 2, which can be found on bootleg carts for very cheap price, as opposed to official carts for over $100, which isn't profitably for paying for old games from 3rd gaming generation.
Here it's a bit closer look at my cartridges.
I have some interesting cartridges, some rare games in my collection I am proud to have.
I had some of them from my childhood, and others were bought from different forum websites and social network groups.
As I said earlier, I got 12 more cartridges, but there are some cartridges here I will be getting rid of (repeat cartridges, and other unnecessary carts)

So, here's the closer look to my cartridges:
I will just list the game cartidges I have here, so it wouldn't take too much time.
